- And you can customize it to your taste.
- It is straightforward to make
It is easy to make this milkshake; you need a few ingredients and the perfect ratio. It would help if you had a milkshake of ideal texture and consistency. Not too watery like juice and not as thick that you can’t use a straw for drinking.
For that reason, I’m sharing my favorite strawberry banana milkshake that can be a starting point for making your own. If you want a milkshake in popsicle form, then try my creamy pineapple popsicles.

Step By Step Instructions on How to Make the Milkshake
- Ice cream – full-fat ice cream will yield the creamiest and smoothest milkshake. Low-fat ice cream will work too.
- Milk – use whatever milk you have at home. Remember that the higher the fat percentage of your milk, the creamier your milkshake will be. I use whole milk.
- Fruits: strawberries and bananas were used for the recipe. For a thicker milkshake, use frozen fruit; for a thinner milkshake, add more milk or use fresh fruits.
- Toppings – take your pick on your toppings. I love adding whipped cream, sprinkles, and some of the fruit used in the recipe.

Expert Tips for Making this Recipe
- To make this milkshake even creamier, you can try using heavy cream, full cream coconut milk in place of milk.
- For a thicker milkshake, use frozen fruits. If you prefer a healthy version, omit the ice cream and increase the bananas.
- When buying ice cream, make sure you purchase natural 100% dairy ice cream, not frozen desserts.
- Allow the ice cream to sit at room temperature for around 5 minutes so it can soften enough to scoop.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Make Different Flavors?
The good about this recipe is that you can easily change the flavor with a few simple swaps. You can use different ice cream flavors or fruits such as blueberries, chocolate ice cream, mint chocolate ice cream, chocolate peanut butter, matcha green tea, and more! You can also use non-dairy milk as well.
What Can I use as Topping?
The optional Topping for the milkshake is whipped cream, but you can change things up. Some topping ideas are strawberry syrup, caramel sauce, crushed cookies, fruit, and sprinkles. If you want something unique, then try my strawberry shortcake crumble recipe.
Can I Make This Ahead of Time?
I highly recommend you enjoy your milkshake immediately after you make it. But if you still want to make it ahead of time, more than 24 hours, then I suggest pouring it into your serving glass and putting it into the freezer after blending. When ready to drink, allow the milkshake to sit out for about 5-7 minutes or until it becomes drinkable again.
How do you Make a Milkshake without Ice Cream?
You can always make a milkshake without ice cream. All you have to do is add sugar and vanilla extract to the recipe.
Are banana and strawberry Milkshake Good for You?
You can have a milkshake once a while, but not every day. Having milkshakes daily is unsuitable since they are made with ice cream or added sugar. For a healthy version, I suggest you make a smoothie without ice cream or sugar.
What do strawberries and bananas do for you?
According to livingstrong.com, bananas supply fiber, which protects bowel health and helps regulate digestion. The potassium in bananas makes them an excellent fruit to eat to decrease your risk of kidney stones. Strawberries promote good eyesight and reduce symptoms of arthritis, thanks to the high volume of antioxidants.
Are Strawberries and Bananas a good combination?
Strawberry on its own tastes amazing and pairs well with other berries. The most common fruit that pairs very well with strawberries is bananas—making them a perfect fruit combination for drinks, smoothies, and milkshakes.
How to Store the Strawberry Milkshake
A Strawberry banana milkshake can be kept in the fridge for about 24 hours, and it will still taste fresh as the day it was made. When ready to serve, give it a good stir and dilute it a bit if it is too thick.
