Ingredients used for Making Strawberry Shortcake Crumbs.
What are strawberry shortcake crumbs made of? They are made with only three ingredients which you might have in your pantry already.
- Golden Oreos – these cookies have the recipe’s perfect texture, sweeteners, and flavor. I used 20 pieces of the sandwich cookies. Any similar vanilla sandwich cookies will work fine.
- Freeze-dried strawberries – these dried strawberries are the star of the recipe and the secret ingredients used to make the crunch toppings. They add color and flavor without moisture to make the crumble topping soggy.
- Salted butter – I used salted melted butter to bind the mixture together to improve the taste. If you don’t have salted butter, add about 1/8 teaspoon to the mixture.
Uses of Freeze-Dried Strawberry
Freeze-dried strawberries are fruits that have dried naturally with no additives added and are full of flavor. They are available in most grocery stores, and you will find them where they have dried raisins and other dried fruits. Use freeze-dried fruits or powdered strawberries to flavor buttercream frosting and cake batter. I used it to make this strawberry shortbread cookie. You will find other freeze-dried fruit as well.
