This easy copycat Dominos pizza dough recipe yields a soft, homemade and delicious pizza crust. When you try this recipe, you will skip the pizza delivery and start making your own. The pizza dough uses 6 main ingredients and two optional ingredients.
If this is your first time making pizza dough, it might seem difficult at first, but this homemade pizza dough is straightforward to make. The dough comes together in about 10 minutes, and you need only about 1 – 2 hours to proof. This made-from-scratch pizza crust has a delicious and perfect texture, and it is the same recipe I used to make this domino pizza recipe.
Dominos Pizza dough ingredients
Every pizza dough starts with the same basic ingredients that is flour, yeast, salt, water, and olive oil. This Dominos copycat recipe is no different. These are the dominos pizza crust ingredients used in the recipe:
Oil: adds richness to the dough and helps it crisp up in the oven. Olive oil adds flavor to the dough as well.
Salts: A little dose of salt is added for flavor — this is important, as pizza dough can be bland.
Cornmeal: this is not in the dough, but it is used to dust the baking sheet. It keeps the dough from sticking as it bakes. Cornmeal gives the crust flavor and is used by most commercial pizza makers.
Yeast: makes the dough rise. I use instant yeast, also known as rapid rise or quick rise yeast. Active dry yeast can also be used, which will require you to hydrate the yeast with warm water and sugar.
Water: I use warm water to reduce the rising time of the dough. The temperature of the water should be about 100 – 110 0F. If you are going to leave the dough to proof or rise in the refrigerator, then use cold water.
Sugar: the sugar used feeds the yeast to increase the yeast’s activity.
Flavor boosters: dry or powdered milk and garlic powder were added to enhance the dough’s flavor and texture. These ingredients are optional to use.

Domino’s Pizza Dough Secret
According to Domino’s website, all their pizza doughs are refrigerated until it is ready to bake. This means that the dough is made ahead of time and fermented in the refrigerator. The slow rise or fermentation helps the pizza dough develop the best flavor.
To make the dough overnight, use cold water to mix the dry mixture. After making the dough, divide the dough into 2 balls. Then, place them into a lightly greased bowl/tray. Cover with plastic wrap and keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Pizza flour: Most pizza dough is made with 00 or Double zero flour, also known as doppio zero flour. It is a finely ground Italian flour commonly used to make pasta and pizza dough.
All-purpose flour: this flour produces a thin and crispy pizza crust. The flour gives the dough a light and airy texture due to its lower gluten content and high protein.
Bread flour contains gluten and high protein, producing a more structured and slightly denser pizza crust.
Gluten-free flour is a blend of rice flour, tapioca, potato starch, and sometimes xanthan gum. This combination gives the dough the right amount of elasticity and produces a crispy, thin crust.
